Galt California is a small city, very progressive, with a rich history and certainly a very bright future. Located in Northern California, in the heart of the Delta Recreation Area, Galt has fast and easy access to some of California’s prime areas and resorts. The City of Galt is located approximately 20 miles south of Sacramento along Highway 99 adjacent to the Northern California Delta Recreation Area and the Cosumnes River Preserve.

Born as 'Dry Creek Township' around 1850, during the gold rush days in the Sacramento Valley, the little town was settled by a group of farmers along a small stream. In 1869, Galt was being layed out and planned by the Western Pacific Railroad Co. The area at the time was made up of mostly beef cattle and dairy farms. By 1869 the little community had Blacksmiths, Dairymen, Cattle Ranchers, etc. It was renamed at this time to Galt. For many years Galt has served as the agricultural center of the Sacramento Valley. It is still an agricultural community and has many large ranches and dairies dotting the rolling hills. Today, the city offers many amenities to its residents in the form of beautiful parks, community activities, and an outdoor market renowned throughout Northern California for its bargains on local produce and merchandise.

Its proximity to the prime Northern California cities and resorts has made Galt a recreational paradise for all boat enthusiasts and other outdoorsman as well. Sports and recreation are key elements to the quality of life in this little city. Just about every kind of sport or sporting activity is available here. Many public parks and recreation areas and facilities make for a great variety of activities for youth and adults as well.
