Isleton has a rich history dating back to when the old steamboats traveled along the Sacramento River which was a very good sized river back then. People and commerce traveled from San Francisco up the Sacramento River heading for the Mother Lode country in search of gold. As more and more people came into the area, the need for other commodities like agricultural products provided many opportunities for people wanting to cultivate this rich real estate in the Delta. Gone are the days of the great paddle wheelers and steamboats that once drew excitement in the likeness of Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn.. In 1938 the last great steamboat race took place on the Sacramento River. Since that era, many changes have taken place in the Delta, but many things have remained the same. Isleton's quaint small town charm and the warmth of its residents have not changed. The residents here take pride of ownership very seriously.
Isleton attracts many boaters and fishermen due to the many rivers here close by. You can catch striped bass, sturgeon, catfish, black bass and more. You can even trap crawdads! As one drives along State Hwy. 160 and enters Isleton, you immediately sense that the atmosphere is slowing and more relaxed; no hustle and bustle. The town offers quality Motel rooms and even cabins, and campgrounds/RV parks.
